Design Workshop FAQ

Mobile Design Workshop

What is a mobile design workshop?

Our “mobile” design workshop was created to help teachers bring real world experience into the high school classroom while saving money and time.

What is the workshop format?

The format for the workshop is as follows:

  1. University style lecture
  2. Hands-on project
  3. Student presentation and critique
  4. Q&A

The time allowed for each part varies as it depends on a number of factors such as number of students and time allotted.

How many students are allowed in a workshop?

For the most optimal classroom experience, we recommend no more than 25 students and no less than 7 students.

What is the cost per student in your workshop?

Our mobile workshops are a cost effective alternative to a similar workshop that takes place out of school.  The cost per student is $30.  This includes all materials with the exception of some tools such as pencils and Exacto knives.

How do I schedule a workshop?

You can schedule a workshop by contacting us at info@tcead.com and put in the subject line “mobile workshop”. When you contact us, please send us the following details:

  • Contact Name
  • Phone number – best number to reach you
  • Name of school
  • Dates available – please provide a few alternatives

We will respond to your email within 24-48 hours.

In addition, each student must submit a completed application with appropriate signatures before they can participate in the workshop.

How do I pay for the workshop?

Each school is different.  Some schools have decided to pay us in a single lump sum while others prefer to collect monies from each student along with their application.

Payment must be paid in full before workshop can start.  You can pay for the workshop by credit card, interac e-mail bank transfer, or by check.  Checks should be made out to TCEAD Ltd.

Is the teacher required to be present during the workshop?

Yes.  By having the teacher present, we have found that this maximizes the amount of time for the workshop we have in class.  The professor can focus on teaching the material while the teacher can help with minor logistics and student discipline.

How long is the workshop?

We request 3 hours be available to the students to attend this workshop.  Every minute will be used to ensure the students get the most benefit out of this workshop.

Should a 3 hour time slot not be possible, we can accommodate to a minimum of 2 hours.  Anything less than this, would be a sub par experience for the students.
